Nella serata di ieri si sono tenuti presso il Troxy di Londra gli NME Awards, i premi assegnati dall’influente rivista musicale britannica che quest’anno celebrano il sessantesimo anniversario: proprio nel 1953 si tenne NME Poll Winners Concerts, la prima edizione di quelli che poi, nel corso degli anni, sarebbero diventati gli NME Awards. Come da tradizione, questi premi sono considerati come la versione alternativa dei Brit Awards e, non a caso, si tengono una manciata di giorni dopo l’evento mainstream dell’industria discografica britannica in location più intime.
I vincitori morali dell’edizione 2013 sono i Rolling Stones, che su quattro candidature si portano a casa due premi del calibro di “Best Live Band” e “Best Music Film” (per “Crossfire Hurricane”), in contrasto con un’altra icona come David Bowie, che non riesce a portare a casa alcun premio pur avendo ottenuto tre nomination. Zero awards anche per gli Alt-J (che con il loro debutto “An Awesome Wave” sono stati tra le sorprese del 2012) e i Mumford And Sons, recenti trionfatori ai già citati Brits e ai Grammys. I premi più importanti vengono assegnati ai Biffy Clyro, che si portano a casa il premio di Best British Band, e a Florence And The Machine, che invece si portano a casa il Best Solo Artist.
