Uscirà il 10 settembre per Sony Legacy Sound System, il box set definitivo dei The Clash, la punk rock band inglese diventata famosa tra gli anni Settanta e Ottanta e che, pur essendosi sciolta nel 1986 senza alcuna reunion negli anni successivi, ha influenzato generazioni di musicisti successivi. Il cofanetto includerà l’intera discografia rimasterizzata del gruppo (escluso il lavoro Cut The Crap), alla quale verrà aggiunto materiale raro e demo audio e video, booklet e altro materiale celebrativo, il tutto racchiuso in un packaging a forma di stereo portatile. La notizia del cofanetto celebrativo arriva a pochi giorni dal tributo a Joe Strummer da parte di due città europee: oltre all’Arena Parco Nord di Bologna, intitolata al musicista britannico, è notizia di ieri la scelta della città di Granada di intitolare una piazza al cantante deceduto nel 2002.
A parlare dell’attesa pubblicazione è Mick Jones al quotidiano The Guardian: “L’obiettivo era quello di fare il miglior boxset di sempre. Le rimasterizzazioni sono sempre una gran cosa. Dal punto di vista musicale, questi processi ti permettono di scoprire cose che non avresti mai sentito. E’ stato come scoprire del materiale che non avevi mai ascoltato prima. E’ stato come prendere in mano nuovo materiale, perché la qualità della sorgente è stata migliorata rispetto all’ultima ristampa degli anni Novanta. C’era il rischio di perdere tutto, visto che i nastri ormai erano troppo vecchi“.
